Food-Lack & Insecurity Party

Turning the election into an ad!

STUDENT PROJECT

Problem: 1/5 Canadians are food insecure. Reliance on food banks has increased 78% since 2019. 1/3 children in Canada go without breakfast. There has been no decrease in food insecurity in Canada in the last decade. Research shows the only numerical impact has come through policy inverventions that improve the financial circumstances of the individual.

Insight: The three areas most impacted by food insecurity also happen to be the three smallest electoral districts.

Idea: To spark a national conversation and build pressure for meaningful policy change, Food Banks Canada will create their own political party and enter into the federal election in these three districts. (It is possible I went down a rabbit hole confirming 😅)

Stunts

Stunt #1 uses a mobile billboard to fill the city with the sound of hungry grumbling stomachs.

Stunt #2 hacks the traditional "fundraising dinner" inviting celebs, influencers and politicians, only to show them exactly what being left hungry feels like.
